Tropicana Tropolis
An interactive world for a product launch.
A playful brand experience that balanced games, product education, performance, and a fixed launch window.

Overview
Pepsi approached RiSER to create an interactive digital experience for the launch of Tropicana Tropolis, a new product line aimed at families and kids. The goal was to build something that felt immersive and playful, while still communicating real product information in a way parents could trust.
My role focused on coordinating creative and technical delivery within tight constraints and a fixed launch window.
The challenge
The project required balancing multiple competing forces. The experience needed to feel rich and entertaining for kids, credible and informative for parents, and performant enough to load quickly on the consumer hardware and connections of the time. Flash made ambitious visuals possible, but it also introduced real risks around performance, stability, and scope creep.
With multiple animated worlds, games, and interactions planned, we needed to keep the scope within what the team could finish well.
The approach
We defined a clear scope and a shared standard for completion. I prioritized finishing a coherent set of interactions, and deferred work that could not meet the quality bar within the launch window.
We set performance budgets for file weight and complexity, then made trade-offs and optimized the experience against those limits.
I kept artists, animators, designers, and developers aligned around the delivery plan, ownership, and quality expectations.
Outcome and lessons
The team designed and built Tropicana Tropolis within a two-month window and launched a game-like experience combining entertainment and product education. The project received FWA Site of the Day recognition on March 28, 2011.
The project reinforced how clear scope, practical constraints, and shared quality expectations help a multidisciplinary team deliver ambitious work.
